Jewish community joins Faith in Indiana in fight for state support for mental health infrastructure
On February 11, members of the NEXTGen Young Professionals joined Sinai Synagogue and the greater interfaith community for Faith in Indiana’s Rally for Care in Indianapolis supporting SB1: Behavioral health matters.
During this rally over 700 attendees heard from both faith and government leaders who reported factual need-based data supporting this bill, as well as personal testimonies from families affected by the mental health crisis facing America today.
Participants learned how they can support their community, as well as write their government officials asking for support of mental health infrastructure in the state of Indiana.
On February 13, this bill passed the State Senate in a 49-0 vote; the bill passed but still requires funding. On Tuesday, March 21, a number of us will return to Indianapolis to speak with our legislators at the Statehouse about fully funding SB 1 and crisis response.
