Introducing Tamid Kulam for Jewish Teens
Colin Pier-Silver Announces New Program from Sinai Synagogue
Since October 7, Jewish high school students have been exposed to more frequent and more intense antisemitism in their schools and social settings. Now more than ever, Jewish teens need a safe space to connect with other Jews and their Jewish identity.
To this end, Sinai synagogue is inviting your Jewish teen to be part of our new Tamid Kulam program powered by Moving Traditions. Kulam promotes: shleimut (individual wellbeing), hesed (connection), and tzedek (just action) for Jewish students in grades 8-12. It equips Jewish teens to engage in dynamic and authentic relationships in order to think reflectively, act courageously, and develop healthy and caring communities.
When teens participate in Kulam, they will:
Experience a sense of belonging and feel connected to their Jewish community
Have fun in a Jewish space with other Jewish teens
Feel connected to Jewish wisdom
Actively participate and share their thoughts with the group
Reflect on their identities
Feel equipped to develop healthy relationships
Be inspired to make a positive difference in their communities
Gain insight into current social issues in the world around them.
Sinai’s Tamid Kulam will meet on Sunday, October 6, 2024, from 11:30-1:30 PM, at Sinai Synagogue. It will be a lunch and learn program led by Sinai Synagogue Rabbi Michael Friedland, Jewish Federation shaliach Omer Karavani, and I. We will be participating via Zoom in the Jewish Federation’s program “From Horror to Hope: An IDF Commando’s Journey.” We will debrief after the program to share thoughts and raise questions. Subsequent meetings will be on November 3 and 24, January 12 and 26; March and May 2025 dates to be determined.
