In Appreciation of Bob: A Champion of Dialogue and Detail
Barbara Lerman, Chair of the Community Relations Committee, Pays Tribute to Bob Feferman
Experiencing Bob’s boundless enthusiasm for sharing his extensive knowledge of Israel’s beauty and diversity has been a delight. Working with him was like being in a space of bright light while at the same time staying aware of the boundaries of reality. He never seems to mind having his ideas challenged. In fact, his ability to hear an opposing point of view and not take offense but rather engage in an insightful discussion, is a rare gift. He responds with convincing, well thought out positions while respecting the points of view of others. This is the true nature of inclusion.

Working with him and being part of the Federation’s many programs, I have found Bob’s meticulous attention to the detailed arrangements for out-of-town speakers and groups as well as local organizations to whom we reached out made their visits and our programs outstanding at all levels. Our guests felt honored and cared for while we were informed and enlightened by hearing of their experiences.
Dave and I have had the privilege of having Bob at our dinner table on many occasions. His insights and tactful, thoughtful approach to providing perspective added so much to our discussions. His correcting of misperceptions or errors made in conversations around our table were not only thought provoking, but extremely helpful in allowing our guests to understand the situation in Israel at more sophisticated levels.
We will sincerely miss Bob at the Federation and wish him and Shoshona a wonderful retirement as they spend more time with their kids and grandkids.
