Grow Together at the Jewish Federation
There is no better time than the present to connect with other members of your local community and the Jewish Federation is here to provide you with an outlet for those meaningful experiences.
Starting in January, we will begin to offer a new series featuring a trio of Jewish Studies scholars from the University of Notre Dame. On Wednesday, January 8th at 7:00 PM, Dr. Tsachi (Isaac) Slater will offer an in-person presentation called “Rewriting the People of the Book: Three Modern Jewish Perspectives on Textual Authority.” Dr. Slater is a Postdoctoral Fellow in Jewish Studies at the University of Notre Dame. The lecture will take place at the Jewish Federation and will include light refreshments and a musical prelude. Register at TheJewishFed.org/Scholars.
Other lecturers include Dr. Tzvi Novick on “The Ancient Synagogue as Theater,” and a special guest in March to be announced in the coming weeks.
PJ Library returns Sunday, January 12th at 2:00 PM with a new program called Mitzvah Makers, which will task our kids with creating a vision board for the new year, full of the many mitzvahs and goals they hope to achieve in 2025. RSVP to attend at TheJewishFed.org/PJ.
Our NEXTGen Jewish Young Adults continue to plan fun social events that deepen their connection with each other and our local community. On Saturday, February 1st at 8:00 PM (post-Shabbat), the group will meet at Chippewa Bowl for an evening of bowling with friends. Cost is $20, which includes two hours of bowling, shoes, and drinks. Register to attend at TheJewishFed.org/NEXTGen.
Are you in need of a night out? Make plans now to join us for our next edition of Kosher Date Night on Tuesday, February 4th at 6:00 PM. We’ll provide an elegant atmosphere, delicious kosher fine dining (under SBK supervision), and childcare available upon request. Registration opens January 2nd!
If you remember last year’s Sunday Funday series, we’re now offering a twist on that concept: A Taste of Chugim! Chugim is the Hebrew word for clubs, and this is your chance to see the smattering of activities we will offer on a regular basis at the Jewish Federation. We’re still coming up with our list of clubs & activities, but if you have an idea or a particular interest you’d like to see represented, please reach out to me!
For a full list of upcoming programs, please visit TheJewishFed.org/Events. We look forward to seeing you soon!
