Last month, I had the distinct honor of attending a three-day retreat with over two dozen Jewish communal professionals from across North America, as part of the Jewish Federations Executive Accelerator program. This opportunity allowed us to deepen our connection to community building and sharpen the tools needed to lead effectively by example. I was able to slow down and reflect deeply on what it means to serve the Jewish community, and I came away with a renewed sense of purpose for our work at Federation. Regardless of our professional roles in Jewish communities large and small, we all share a common belief in connecting people with purpose, a desire to grow the impact of our work, and the fortitude to lead our Jewish communities into a flourishing future.
Over the coming months, I will continue to meet with my cohort via Zoom, plan a visit to a Federation in another community, and begin work on a capstone project that identifies a need in our community and implements a solution.
Throughout this endeavor, I am reminded that to see change is to be the change.
To continue building this Jewish community for the next generation, it starts with you and me, breaking out of our silos and working together. Regardless of where you fall on the spectrum of Jewishness, we are stronger together because we are different, yet united by our common values. Please join us in the work of strengthening our Jewish community of Greater South Bend; we need you every step of the way.
